Firm
Our independent practice was established in 1987 - devoted almost
exclusively to private residences. Reflecting an appreciation
for eclectic design, many of our projects have been shingle-style
homes and beach cottages. Were also well versed with the
New England vernacular, and many other projects reflecting the
classical Georgian or Greek-revival models. Almost all of our
projects incorporate open, airy, sunlit and comfortable interiors
for informal living. We like to think we fit solutions to problems,
listening to our clients' needs and wishesnot working in
a single signature style.
We try to bring as much empathy and insight to "interior
architecture"kitchens, baths, interior finishes and
specificationsas we do to the structural architecture itself.
When using quality "luxurious" materials such as slate,
wood shingle, stone, tile, natural and/or stained woodwork, its
often important to be able to refer in builders who are skilled
at that level of craftsmanship. We often act as consultants to
our owners, helping them find, negotiate with and manage the contractors.
This is often essential to engineering value and leveraging investment.
